PEPEROMIAS for the 2008 SEASON

PEPEROMIAS: Some are remarkable for spectacular leaf formations, waxy and variegated surfaces; others for clambering, clustering, and cascading. If you suggest, we will send you a selection of types best suited for terrariums, dish gardens, or baskets and urns; or we will send an introductory cross section selection in our PEPEROMIA COLLECTION as Stock #99007 for 5 labeled plants @ $12.00.

53517 PEPEROMIA ACUMINATA VARIEGATA PIP HP TGH $ 4.75 Thick oval waxy leaves, with pointed edges, richly splashed creamy green and yellow ochre, set like pieces of jade on thick cascading stems. Durable constitution even though quite rare. Highly recommended as a houseplant.

53523 PEPEROMIA ARGYERIA NYBG CLONE PIP TGH HP $ 12.00 Very large waxy blush-silver leaves with dark "crab-legs" veins not quite reaching the margins. From Bruce McAlpin. Very showy "Watermelon Peperomia," also very sensitive to chill.

53526PEPEROMIA BAMBOO STALKS [SPECIES] PIP HP TGH $ 7.25 Bright curved oval one-inch long lvs in two ranks on short erect stems with attractive swollen bamboo-like leaf nodes. Very attractive in tiny bonsai pots.

53528 PERPEROMIA BICOLOR POP HP CGH $ 5.50"Inca Princess" or "Black Velvet" Pelted metal-green leaves featherd in silver with red underleaf; the low stolons of this Ecuador species gradually form mounded clumps. Very slow to establish, but of easy culture if grown in barky orchid mix.

53532 PEPEROMIA BUNTINGII PIP HP TGH $ 8.00 "Blue Watermelon Peperomia". Bluish-emerald toned leaves richly veined and patterned, form thick whorls of compact mounds (but very slowly, very deliberately); although appearing delicate, the jade like succulent leaves can easily tolerate somewhat lower humidity than expected.

53533 PEPEROMIA CAMPYLOTROPA PIP TERR TGH $ 4.25 "Emerald Isle" or "Brazil" Delightful tuffets of creamy wax pewter lvs with peltate dimples; stature of a tinsy griseo-argentea. Choice dwarf for the terrarium. And the rather hopeless name? Well, it means "Curved Ovule" allowing the micropyle to come quite near the funicle. We assume this is why other plants simply love to have it grow near them in the terrarium.

54573 PEPEROMIA CAPERATA BURGUNDY PIP HP TGH $ 4.75 Deeply corrugated foliage with rich dusky purple tones. Very slow growing.

53543 PEPEROMIA CLUSIIFOLIA [PERICATTII] PIP HP TGH $ 6.25 "False Clusia" Thick purplish concave long lvs with purple margins held erect in two ranks by thick stems; the rubbery texture heightened by bright light. This is a clone found by Robert Newman in Chinese cultivation. The obvious question: is this used in Chinese medicine?

53545 PEPEROMIA CLUSIIFOLIA JELLIE $ 4.25 "Jellie Plant" Upright "False Clusia" lvs brilliantly bordered in wide ivory bands toned pink. This is not uncommon, but it is one of the most astounding variegated forms of the Peperomia group.

53544 PEPEROMIA CLUSIIFOLIA VARIEGATA [HORT] PIP HG TGH $ 4.75 Horticultural designation of a P. obustifolia type with gorgeous cream and yellow variegation (as in Exotica.) Tolerates low humidity if given bright indirect light and thus an excellent houseplant..

53546 PEPEROMIA COLUMNELLA [HORT] PIP HG TGH $10.00 New for 2008. A fine addition to any collection. "Pearly Columns" Miniature upright succulent from Peruvian Andes with tight keeled leaves nearly fused to resemble stacks of tiny succulent "Cow's Hooves" This must be treated as a succulent. Use a high proportion of perlite or orchid mix to prevent root rot.

53554 PEPEROMIA CRASSICAULIS PIP HP TGH $ 2.00 "False Philodendron" Similar to distichia [scandens], but longer, thicker lvs with curled thick tips, & purple-ringed leaf nodes; excellent reliable hanging basket subject. From Univeristy of Copenhagen Botanical Garden collection--a Central American species believed to be extinct in its native habitat.

53618 PEPEROMIA DISTICHIA [SCANDENS] VARIEGATA PIP HP $ 3.50 The heart leaved "False Philodendron" with bright ivory white margined waxy leaves on the fleshy cascading stem; a basic for hanging baskets.

53616 PEPEROMIA DISTICHIA [SCANDENS] CRANE'S FLECKED GER HP CGH $4.50 "Crazy Quilt Plant" Irregular patches of gray-green and soft ivory--a Ruth Crane selection we introduced years ago, yet is still rare in most collections. A wonderful unique cultivar with no two leaves ever matching--oddly this will occassionally sport to a stable 'medio-picta' form.

53558 PEPEROMIA DOLABRIFORMIS PIP HG TGH $7.50 A fine addition to any collection. The "Prayer Peperomia" features thick fused windowed leaves sticking out from succulent stocky erect stems ending in long wand of tiny flowers. Lima-bean lime-colored leaves give a unique character to this Peruvian native. Succulent culture.

53562PEPEROMIA FERREYRAE PIP HP TGH $ 5.00 "Pincushion Peperomia" Short thick succulent stems topped with many narrow trough-shaped leaves very nearly fused; the easiest succulent species to grow. How this relates ot iron (ferrea) we do not know, unless it was collected ner a railroad track.

53566 PEPEROMIA FRASERI [RESEDAEFOLIA] NANA PIP HP TGH $ 3.50 Miniature "Flowering Peperomia" clone with glossy jade like small lvs on clumping rosettes sprouting tiny wands of fuzzy blossoms. Formerly known as P. resedaefolia `Dwarf.'

53568 PEPEROMIA GALIOIDES PIP HP CGH $ 4.25 "Pine Peperomia." or "Needle-leaf Wax Plant" Small erect branching stems with close whorls of four to six pale green needle leaflets--eventually looks like a succulent clustered mini-scale model for a Bamboo clump. Very odd habit for this genus.

53521 PEPEROMIA GARDNERIANA [CORDATA?] PIP HP TGH $ 4.25 "Argentina" probably indicates origin. Big golden-ochre leaves bushed with dull pewter highlights, held in open rosettes with character of a giant P. caperata.

41707 PEPEROMIA GLABELLAPIP HP TGH $ 4.25 The reliable "Wax Privet Peperomia" with many-branched nodding stems studded by the bright green glossy fleshy foliage. Easy old favorite brought back by popular demand. May be sent as URCuttings mossed.

53572 PEPEROMIA GRAVEOLENS PIP HP CGH $6.50 SOMETIMES TEMPORARILY SOLD OUT. "Red Wax Plant" Succulent species entirely colored a glowing red-maroon--fused leaves indicate succulent epiphytic culture. Does best in a bark and perlite mix with very bright light and adequate air movement; avoid high temperatures. Not easy to grow (especially difficult in hot climates), but a remarkable color.

53685 PEPEROMIA GUATAMALA SELBY 78-725 PIP TGH HP $ 6.50 Heavy magenta blushed stems arch under large waxy rhombic foliage. As this grows very slowly, it is usually in very limited availability, so please inquire before ordering this in any quanity.

53584 PEPEROMIA HIRTA PIP HP TGH $ 4.00 Multi-branched erect stems with collars of downy leaves and tall inflorescens; probably inter-specific with P. tetraphylla.

53585 PEPEROMIA HORACE ANDERSON [SPECIES] PIP HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.75 Upright angled reddish jade leaves in whorls of three. This is a famous and older variety tha has alway been know by the perhaps original collector. We do not know the species. Reliable but slow. Sent at URCuttings in moss. We can root and establish for you if we have time.

53586 PEPEROMIA INCANA PIP HP CGH $ 5.00 "Felted Pepperface" Fabulous succulent lvs of gray felt (or "Amazon Fuzz") on upright fur-covered stems; easily grown Brazilian tolerating low humidity as long as grown in very bright light. Interesting also as a summer patio subject.

53589 PEPEROMIA JUNGLE RED PIP HP CGH $ 3.75 Cheerful red-stemmed tangles with whorls of fat succulents patterned button leaves, violet-red beneath in high light. Great miniature plant

66880 PEPEROMIA KUANCA BANBA (SP. NOVA) $ 3.75 Upright stoutly succulent stem studded with multitudes of basil green slim leaves to resemble a petite bottlebrush, but soon self-branching into an impressive clump of rich foliage; an unnamed native of Peru. Very reliable houseplant.

53590 PEPEROMIA LEMON MOTHS [SPECIES] PIP HP CGH $ 4.00 Pale chartreuse leaves in random abundance seem to flutter on the full growing toppling stems; good basket subject which is easy to grow yet seems impossibly delicate in part because of the extended internodes between each leaf.

53596 PEPEROMIA MERIDANA GER HP CGH $ 4.25 "Crazy Quilt Plant" "Pixie" or "Christmas Tree" Also sold as P. gardneriana minima; as P. fraseri hyb. Cheerful upright reddish stems covered with columns of glossy depressed-veined rich green leaves packed so closely as to give a "shingled" effect. Easy.

53597 PEPEROMIA MERIDANA MACULATA PIP HP TGH $5.00 A variegated "Pixie." Splashed and slashed with cream and yellow--a Glasshouse Works selection from a sport that Ken Frieling discovered here.

53600 PEPEROMIA MOONSET [SPECIES] PIP HP TGH $ 4.25 Ashy-lime underleaf; entire plant very felted, soft to touch like a "Mouse Ear"; Upfaced foliage topped by very erect "Mouse Tails" shaped inflorescence. A beautiful subject for light garden, probably a varient of P. moninii. Sent as mossed URCutting if none currently potted.

53603 PEPEROMIA OBTUSIFOLIA ALBA PIP HP TGH $ 4.75 New leaves strongly and dramatically emerge pure ivory, then gradually fade to pale lime, then glossy jade green; slightly reddish petioles. A Manda selection effective in lightgardens and striking in any greenhouse collection as well as a marvelous houseplant--quite unique yet easily grown; especially valuable as the albinism is strong even when grown in warm conditions--typically hardy perennials and trees loose this sort of variegation in warm weather.

53604 PEPEROMIA OBTUSIFOLIA ALBOMARGINATA PIP HP TGH $ 4.75 "Hummel White Cloud" Rippled, puckered waxy leaves margined ivory. Interesting petite habit heavily self branching to form a remarkable hemisphere of bright variegation tolerant of less than ideal levels of humidity. We received this stunning variegate from Ed Hummel in the 70s and have found the ongoing demand unflagging.

53607PEPEROMIA OBTUSIFOLIA GOLDEN GATE PIP HP $ 4.00 Very wide fleshy leaf with slate green center surrounded by a flamed zone (a halo?) of rich cream-yellow and margined in deep green. Very flashy pot plant.

53609 PEPEROMIA OBTUSIFOLIA HICOLOR PIP HP TGH $ 3.00 Similar to the traditional 'Gold Tip' of Hummel, but this selection has rich golden and milky green variegation dramatically slashed throughout the entire leaf of jade like waxy succulent substance; the thick succulent stems gradually descend under the weight of the heavy highly colored leaves, thus an excellent subject for a hanging basket quite tolerant of less than ideal humidity levels..

43612 PEPEROMIA OBTUSIFOLIA SENSATION PIP HP TGH $ 12.00 Manda's introduction of a huge "Marble Peperomia" with large gold-slashed waxy leaves on reclining purpled stems. Some feel this is more likely a sport of P. magnoliifolia or of P. crassifolia as it very oversized to be an obtusifolia and the catkins sometimes branch. Very rare; very spectacular, yet an excellent houseplant because the thick waxy leaves tolerate bouts of poor humidity.

53629 PEPEROMIA ORBA PIP HP TGH $ 3.75 "Princess Astrid" Dwarf-statured with multiple crowns of waxy spoon like leaves--soon forming a charming waxy tuffet; easy tinsy houseplant with unknown origin-- the name "orba" meaning "orphan." A basic for your terrarium companions.

53631 PEPEROMIA ORBA VARIEGATA PIP HP TGH $ 5.50 " Variegated Princess Astrid" Dwarf-statured with multiple crowns of waxy spoon like leaves--soon forming a charming waxy tuffet; easy tinsy houseplant with unknown origin-- the name "orba" meaning "orphan." A basic for your terrarium companions or for your windowsills. This is a robust and beautiful growing plant. Each small flat leaf edged in a rich ivory-yellow; short stems are dotted reddish-tan.

53708PEPEROMIA PIED PIPER [SPECIES] PIP HP TGH $ 6.50 Beautiful wide red-backed deep emerald leaves with silver bands on much-branching colorful stems--but of delicate nature, thus keep the slug bait handy. Lovely & showy.

53639 PEPEROMIA POLYBOTRYA [PERICATII] PIP HP TGH $ 6.00 "Coin-leaf P." or "Owl Eye Plant" Stout picturesque stems hold large cupped-shield-shaped, waxed peltate lvs with a center "eye"; Andean species with racemes to one foot long covered with flowers so tiny the naked eye is defeated. Rather succulent in culture--be careful the soil is not compacted or root rot may occur.

23784 PEPEROMIA PROSTRATA PIP HP TGH $ 5.50 "Prostrate Peperomia" New listing for 2008. Sometimes called minima or rotundifolia. We have another dwarf creeper called P. rotundifolia, so we prefer to call this P. prostata. This is a great ground cover or even small hanging basket plant. We recommend this for the windowsill or for the small spot you want a little jewel of a plant. This also does well under lights. Can be grown on moss also--just remember that the roots never go deeper than the surface.

53687 PEPEROMIA PUTEOLATA GRAY VEIN CLONE PIP HP $7.50 A form of "Parallel Peperomia" with dramatic whorls of three stiff cardboard-like leaves with very bright gray-ash depressed veins; habit more stiftly upright than some collections of this epiphytic South American. Slow growing; best given same epiphytic growing conditions as Rhipsalis. Usually sent as a mossed URCutting.

53648 PEPEROMIA REPII PIP HP TGH $ 4.50 "Purple Cloud Plant" Low, much-branched purple stems covered with glossy deep toned purple leaves with silver midrib flame; excellent indoor plant of rapid growth; perfect for small hanging baskets; a natural for terrariums. Ever so perfect.

53655 PEPEROMIA SILVER BANDIT [SPECIES UNIDENTIFIED] $ 5.00 Reclining upright stems hold elegant pebbled leaves with upcurled edges and bright central silver flames--this Andean species needs coolish location to display best colors with perfect drainage. Astoundingly beautiful..

53656 PEPEROMIA SILVER SHEEN [SPECIES] PIP HP CGH $ 4.75 "Pewter Waxleaf Plant" Short arching (or scandent) succulent stems lined with thick leaves with a pewter-aluminum patina. Rare, easily grown species for small pots or baskets.

53658 PEPEROMIA TRAILING JADE [SPECIES] PIP HP TGH $ 4.00 Pairs of thick, blunt-edged jade lvs spaced like pendant beads on strong hanging stems; unique habit--best grown like a Rhipsalis. {GHW #34} Peperomia pereskiaefolia form, perhaps. Usually sent as an URCutting in moss.

53671 PEPEROMIA VIRIDIS VARIEGATA PIP HP TGH $ 4.50 Zig-Zagging upright arched stems bear creamy-white margined thick semi-cupped leaves; very stong basket plant. Usually sent as mossed URCutting.

50049 PERISTROPHE HYSSOPIFOLIA AUREO-VARIEGATA. ACAN HP TGH $ 5.00 Also P. angustifolia aureo-variegata. "Yellow Fellow" Narrow yellow-flamed leaves on mounding plants with delicate wands of tiny lavender flowers. "Java marbleleaf" excellent as a "filler" in mixed container designs to give a filigree feathery effect; can loose some of the yellow if in very hot conditions.

51079 PHAEDRANASSA CHLORACRA AMARY HP TGH $ 10.00 Exposed glossy bulbs offset to form mounds topped by short waxy lvs and occassional shy white nodding trumpet flowers soon fading to a pale pink with faint green tips. Beautiful when treated as a foliage potplant. Remember, a chill or a severe drought cause a mini-dormancy, practiced by some growers who feel that the bulbs are more likely to produce their shy blossoms after re-emerging from such an "artificial" dormancy.

51080 PHAEDRANASSA DUBIA AMARYL HP TGH $ 10.00 Short 8" gray strap leaves arched over surface bulbs; odd amaryllid flowers rimmed green. Perhaps best grown as a succulent. Of interest in spite of its most dubious name to all rare bulb collectors. (Translation: of greater botanical than horticultural interest.)

For more unusual species and for variegated selections order Stock #99434 for 5 rare plants, all labeled, @ $45.00.

30293 PHILODENDRON ANDERSON'S RED ARAC HP $ 5.00 Old hybrid heirloom originally from the great Ed Hummel, with some experts declaring this to have a P. tuxla parent, while others suggest this is more correct as P. erubescens 'Burgundy.' Whatever. This vigorous, time-proven very reliable self-branching stout vine is beautifully shingled with a multitude of reddish/purplish hued waxy thick spade-shaped leaves on stout scandent stems. Still popular for it makes a bold statement in less than ideal locations. Most dramatic when allowed to slowly climb, but equally beautiful in a hanging basket or individual container.

30294 PHILODENDRON ANDREANUM ARAC TGH $ 45.00 "Black Gold" Elongated heart-shaped leaves of dark velvet with a lovely coppery sheen and delicate ivory veins. Probably same as P. melanochrysum. Thrives in high humidity and low light. This is one of the true beauties of the philodendron world.

30295 PHILODENDRON ANDREANUM X SODOROI [HYB] ARAC HP TGH $ 45.00 Fantastic large velvety heart leaves with mottlings of pale snimmery emerald and grey pewter on billowed areas between depressed lime veins; blush underleaf; held on mahogany- purple stems. Remarkable hybrid, yet easily grown if sufficient humidity and perfect drainage is provided.

32113 PHILODENDRON AUTUMN [HYB] ARAC HP TGH $ 7.50 "Copper Birdsnest Philo" Whorls of nearly succulent wide lvs toned orange, bronze, and russet red. Waxy succulent lvs insure your success with this hybrid as a gorgeously colored houseplant.

30629 PHILODENDRON BIPENNIFOLIUM GLAUCOUS ARAC HP TGH $12.00 "Blue Fiddle-leaf Philo" The small-statured lvs are a waxy bluish-gray, closely spaced. Perhaps a fixed juvenile form. This has proven a handsome & reliable houseplant; if given a moss pole to slowy climb up will beautifully display a design of overlapping shingled foliage.

30299 PHILODENDRON BIPENNIFOLIUM SPLASH GORDON ARAC HP $12.50 Dave Gordon's amazing selecting of this waxy leaved charmer with the fiddle shaped leaves now lavishly slashed and splashed with nacre cream. Definitely a show winner best displayed on a moss pole..

30700 PHILODENDRON BLACK CARDINAL [HYB] ARAC HP TGH PRICE: $ 8.00 SOLD OUT FOR 2008 This should be available late this year again or in the 2009 season. Bamboo Nurseries self heading hybrid forming a wide dramatic waxy birdsnest habit of overlapping wide rippled leaves of burgundy flushed purple; violet petioles. PP#5355

30370 PHILODENDRON CALKIN'S GOLD [HYB] ARAC HP TGH $ 25.00 A large growing P. domesticum hybrid with rich golden-toned foliage striated green. Unusual, handsome scandant habit; easy plant for indoors as the boldly variegated leaves are thick and waxy, thus resisting the challenge of lower levels of humidity. Highly recommended on the Bling Bling scale.

30361PHILODENDRON DOMESTICUM ARAC HP $ 3.50 "Spade Leaf Philo" Long lobed leaves on rubbery rounded stems; reliable scrambling viner. Easy.

30306 PHILODENDRON DOMESTICUM VARIEGATUM ARAC TGH $ 38.00 "Variegated Spade Leaf" Showy fleshy arrow-shaped leaves splashed irreguarly with rich pale cream. Strong grower given high humidity and perfect drainage with a friendly moss pole to embrace.

30307 PHILODENDRON ECUADORIENSE [HORT] $40.00 "Accordian Philo" Long vertically held leaves are rippled and deeply veined like Anthurium veitchei. As the upper lobes are thin and erect; this rarity needs to be situated in a location with evenly high humidity to avoid burning. A merely spectacular plant best situated in the conservatory or mist garden. Numbers can be limited until late summer as this is very slow to increase. Absolutely not a houseplant.

30309 PHILODENDRON ELEGANS [DUBIUM] ARAC HP $ 10.00 "Skeleton Aroid" Very deeply fingered fern-like foliage on strong but slow growing thickly meandering clambering stems. High light encourages the foliage to be more closely situated, although remains basically scandant in habit. Hortus lists this as P. angustisectum.

30311 PHILODENDRON FENZLII ARAC HP $ 7.50 Shiny trilobed leaves on vigorous vine from Mexico shown to advantage when encouraged to climb a mossed pole. Easily grown mimic of the Syngonium auritum complex.

30312 PHILODENDRON FLORIDA BEAUTY [HYB] ARAC HP $ 4.75 (Sold often as P. squamiferum, but actually reported to be a hybrid of P. laciniatum and P. pedatum). Warty petioles stiftly present glossy shield-like leaves with opposite rounded upper lobes, blunt pointed central lobes and a single large lower lobe. Sound too elaborate? Try one to find out that this reliable compact vine is far easier to grow than to describe.

30313 PHILODENDRON FLORIDA BEAUTY ALBA ARAC HP $ 75.00 Shared with us by David Bernett in Australia years ago, we rediscovered this in our greenhouses and have begun to propagate it. It will be more available in 2008. It is a form which produces new leaves that are frosted white, then to mottled milky green, which gradually fade to jade green. So the plant displays modulating areas of color. The vine also seems to be more compact than the regular form and makes a wonderful sight clambering up a mossed pole. New leaves of ivory veined chartruse fade to deep striated green--much larger statured than `White Squamiferum' and not usually self-heading. Very rare, hard-to-locate cultivar.

30315 PHILODENDRON FLORIDA BEAUTY VARIEGATUM [HYB] ARAC HP TGH $ 45.00 Rich slashes of yellow and lemon cream on deeply lobed leaves designed like an exotic mask make this a must for the collector; must have the humidity of a greenhouse to thrive; yet is small statured enough to perform brilliantly in a large Wardian Case--in fact, a perfect excuse for ordering your first large Victorian style terrarium to accomodate such a treasure. Plant addictions always have such great payoffs!

31454 PHILODENDRON GIGANTEUM ARAC TGH HP $ 8.75 Trinidad's "Jumbo Philo" with giant climbing trunk supporting beautifully lacquered ovate lvs with undulating margins; very closely bunched succulent petioles. Quite a spectacular giant, attractive even while a baby. (But remember: this glossy gentle giant is very intolerant of chill.) The third image is of a variegated form of this wonderful plants, available from time to time on our specialty lists.

30273 PHILODENDRON GLAUCAPHYLLUMARAC HP TGH $ 22.00 "Blue Philodendron" This rarity is one of the standouts of the scandent Philodendrons. Aluminum silver to blue over a waxy undertoned flared arrow leaves anchored on folded petioles. (And: the price is much reduced!)

30318 PHILODENDRON GLORIOSUM ARAC GH $ 25.00 A new introduction this season from the Glasshouse Works. A creeping short surface rhizome anchors wide beautiful and silvery green velour-surfaced leaves that are veined in pink in good light. Slow growing Philodendron from Columbia. These are young plants but are nicely rooted and established. They will be offered at this price until they become more fully grown.

30324 PHILODENDRON HEDERACEUM [HOFFMANNII] ARAC GH $ 5.00 Climber whose leaves mimic the Algerian Ivy. Easy house plant with rubbery foliage able to survive lower humidity levels than most. While judicious pinching will produce a shrubby specimen, it is most successful when embracing a mossed pole or stiftly cascading from a pot. Proof that one can be pretty and "easy" simultaneously and not even command a high price.

56814 PHILODENDRON HOPE [HYB] ARAC HP TGH $ 5.00 Ruffled rich green leaves with heavy substance perfect for any houseplant situation, forming a tight birdsnest shape with P. selloum echoes--even with fingered leaf margins. This is supposedly a hybrid or clone of Philodendron selloum. We would recommend it for the home as a more compact grower than the fabulous old Philodendron selloum, "Tree Philodendron.".

30326 PHILODENDRON INCONCINNUM ARAC HP TGH $ 7.50 Large boat-shaped decorative leaves, blushed beneath in high light; thick succulent midribs accent dull-glossy fleshy leaves overlapping on clambering vine. Easy indoor potplant for mossed pole culture. Very seldom available in the trade.

30701 PHILODENDRON JOSE BUONO ARAC HP TGH $ 65.00 Very dramatic 1' to 2' long leathery sheened leaves evenly splashed & mottled lime gold; shingled effect as leaves placed on very short internodes on rose-toned stems. Certainly the most easily grown (indoors) of the extremely dramatic rare Philodendrons--even tolerating somewhat low light and less than perfect humidity.

31270 PHILODENDRON LEMONADE [HYB] ARAC TGH HP $ 30.00 Quite rare vine with elegantly slim bright lemon yellow leaves punctuated by rose red petioles--much smaller statured and compact than 'Hansoti's Gold' Hard to locate very brightly colored hybrid with unusually slim waxy elegant leaves which is best shown to great advantage if encouraged to clasp a short mossed pole or treefern stake. Very beautiful.

30367 PHILODENDRON MAMEI ARAC HP CGH $ 25.00 New lower price! Ridged, pleated wide leaves with gorgeous silvered splotches held over a trick creeping rhizom; a magnificent spces from Ecuador. These will be ready for shipment in late June. There is a cultivar called "Silver Cloud" but I have never been able to tell the difference, so are offering this as the species form.

30333 PHILODENDRON MEXICANUM ARAC HP CGH $ 12.50 Narrow leathery arrow leaves, with unequal basal lobes, are magenta to maroon beneath; very handsome slowly scandent sp. with small green spathes hiding ruby interior. Mexican species full of drama, soon forming an impressive show as grows white rapidly. Looks exotically difficult, while actually easily grown.

31001 PHILODENDRON MOONLIGHT [HYB] ARAC HP TGH $ 6.75 Very thick stem/trunk with succulently petioled lvs (at very short internodes) with wide boat-like outlines fabulously showcasing the deeply saturated lemon custard color tones, further decorated and supported with prominent pale swollen veins. St. Rose Nursery. Very bold "Birdsnest" type quite successful as a houseplant; very showy as a highlight in your hobby greenhouse (in which environment, of course, the brilliant waxy golds are most intense).

30327 PHILODENDRON NURSE NOODLES [MINI SPEARS] ARAC HP TGH $ 18.00Almost stemless, forms a mop of glossy small lance leaves, maintaining a miniature stature. By far the most vigorous and least fussy of any miniature we have trialed. And such a cutie!

30350 PHILODENDRON ORNATUM [SODOROI] ARAC TERRARIUM TGH $ 32.00 The large areas of silver overwhelm the bluish-green leaf margins; the raised underribs are rouged a delicate chablis--perfect on this thin substanced heart-shaped foliage. Brazil. Must have humidity and constant warmth, thus nearly perfect addition to your Wardian case or warm greenhouse. Stunningly beautiful small statured rarity.

30699 PHILODENDRON PINK PRINCESS [HYB] ARAC HP TGH $35.00 Beautiful Australian hybrid with waxy deep purple leaves liberally splashed pink, ivory and gray green with random freckling throughout. Slimmer form of 'Strawberry Shake,' this is certainly one of the most strikingly beautiful and easily grown of choice variegated plants.

42085 PHILODENDRON PRINCE OF ORANGE ARAC HP TGH $ 8.50 Wondrous richly glazed heavy leaves of truely shocking waxy orange and sunset tones closely whorled in a self-heading vase shape. Be brave and grow this with the purple leaved hybrids--Martha will let you. PP#6797

30365 PHILODENDRON SANTA LEOPOLDINA II $ 45.00 The elegant narrow leaved form with reddish blushed reverse; on strong scandent stems. Fabulous 'Red Back' version. The last two images are of the standard version that is available only occasionally.

30336 PHILODENDRON SCANDENS [OXYCARDIUM] ARAC GH $ 2.00 The most common "Vining Hearts" (sigh), but still very beautiful florists' favorite. This vine with its waxy erect heartshaped leaves is a basic in every dishgarden delivered by florists. Makes a perfect hanging basket.

30337 PHILODENDRON SCANDENS AUREUM ARAC HP $ 5.50 "Limeleaf Vine" Very showy chartreuse leaves create a glow of sunshine anywhere this is placed in your plant display; reliable sturdy plant equally at home in a pot or cascading dramatically from a hanging basket.

30334 PHILODENDRON SCANDENS MICANS ARAC HP $ 5.75 "Velvet Hearts" This is a bronzy velvety toned heart leaved vine very popular as is adaptable to low light as well as imperfect humidity. Adds a rich tone to any combination.

30335 PHILODENDRON SCANDENS MIDUHOI ARAC GH $ 7.75 This "Jumbo Velvet Hearts" is larger-statured than micans, as well as having broader, more shimmery coppery leaves on stiff stems, but is equally reliable as a low-light houseplant although it seldom self-heads.

30338 PHILODENDRON SCANDENS VARIEGATUM ARAC $ 12.00 "Variegated Heartleaf Philo" Leaves streaked with grey green and cream. Very beautiful. More variegated in cool shaded environment--can become marbled lime in the intense heat of the south. Our original plant derived from the famous Hummel collection (in California) many years ago--and it is still as sought after today as it was twenty five years ago.At certain times of the year when this is shipped, this may not look as variegated as at other times. It comes true; it has not reverted. You will just have to wait for new growth.

32102 PHILODENDRON SELLOUM [BIPINNATIFIDUM] ARAC HP $ 4.50 Brazil's "Lacy Tree Philodendron" remains the most reliable of dramatic houseplants with large deeply lobed leathery leaves radiating from the thick succulent trunk sprouting curious aerial roots and greenish white flowers. While these are finger leaved seedlings now, by the time your grandchildren inherit this it will be an enormous elaborately deeply lobed specimen of considerable girth and the beginnings of a stout trunk. They will never forget you.

30750 PHILODENDRON SPECIES HANSOTI'S GOLD ARAC HP TGH $ 17.50 Unusual cultivar with elongated golden-toned leaves similar to 'Golden Erubescens,' yet smaller and faster growing. 31496 PHILODENDRON SPECIES QUAIL GARDENS ARAC TGH HP $ 25.00 Congested contorted succulent stems armed with thick winged petioles tipped with slim cookie cutter leaves. Offsetting and re-offsetting stubby fat stems eventually assume a decorative disheveled hemispherical outline. Makes Medusa's hair look tidy. Succulent enough to survive considerably dry atmospheres. Also quite popular with succulent collectors.

30371 PHILODENDRON SQUAMIFERUM [TRUE] ARAC GH $ 15.00 This true form differs from the P. squamiferum hybrids by real presence of squami on the petioles: very hairy stems' elaborately lobed leaves with glossy surface. Performs well as a houseplant with its mask shaped foliage, like glossy green violins stuck onto very rough surfaced pipecleaners, whether encouraged to remain bushy or allowed to slowly ascend a mossed pole. Too hairy for you? Then try the faster growing, glossier, deeper green 'Florida Beauty' instead.

56821 PHILODENDRON TENUE [HORT] ARAC TGH $ 25.00 "Dwarf Accordian Leaf Philodendron" Elongated hearts with fabulous depressed veins creating a deep ribbing curving from the central leaf vein; seems an abbreviated ecuadorense with heavier substance and rose blushed clambering stems.

80364 PHYLLOSTACHY NIGRA BLACK BAMBOO GRA GH $ 95.00 One of the most sought after of the Bamboo cultivars, this is not totally hardy in the North, but after a cool spell always darkens into a great looking plant. We grow this outside here, but it can be containerized easily and make a great indoor subject. We have some 2 gallon pots just full of this plant. Shipping would be higher than usual, but these are well grown. Please inquire as to availability in liter pots at a much reduced price..
