60793 TALINUM PANICULATUM [PATENS] VARIEGATUM POR HP TGH $ 5.00 "Fame Flower" or "Jewels of Opar" Slender erect stems bear obovate ivory-margined fleshy leaves; terminal pinkish-red flowers followed by berries create a haze of color much prized by designers. A Caribbean native, so avoid winter chills. A wonderful addition to any outdoor container, windowbox, even bedding as the clear white variegation brings out the intensity of any nearby foliar colors--plus, a beautiful pot subject by itsself, performing quite contentedly on a sunny windowsill.

60607 TALINUM PATENS KINGWOOD GOLD POR CGH HP $ 3.25 Marvelous "Golden Fame Flower" selection made at Kingwood Center in Mansfield, Ohio with bright chartreuse-gold foliage creating a very striking contrast with the misty clusters of carmine flowers. This is now quite popular as an outdoor summer bedding subject--to see a sweep of these at Kingwood Center is a true design overload.

41138 THORNCROFTIA SUCCULENTA LAB HP CGH $ 5.75 "Mint Oak" Tidy woody stems hold pelted oak-shaped leaves with delicate mint fragrance; purple flowers. Eventually develops a gnarled woody base beloved by bonsai fanciers.

40957 VANILLA PLANIFOLIA [FRAGRANS] ORC HP TGH $ 12.00 Wide leathery waxy leaves line the thick vining stems; important commercial "Vanilla Orchid" source of the vanilla bean--the yellow-green flowers are hard to produce without adequate light and considerable patience.

40959 VANILLA PLANIFOLIA [FRAGRANS] VARIEGATA ORC HP TGH $ 25.00 Irregular bands of green-gold throughout each glossy leaf-- beautiful & vigorous conversation piece of easy house culture--especially if given a moss stuffed pole to gradually climb. Handsome.

80477 YUCCA FLACCIDA BRIGHT EDGE AGA HT $ 15.00 Long slim golden-margined lvs, bent downwards above the middle, with straight marginal thread-like fibers. {Yucca filamentosa has curly marginal threads} Needs bright exposed location with good drainage. Quite winter hardy outdoors.

40978 ZAMIA FISCHERII ZAM GH $12.00 "Fern Leaf Zamia" or "Fish Tail Zamia" Spindle trunks with thin, leathery shiny pinnate leaves giving air of elegance. Mexican native.

41295 ZAMIA PUMILA [FURFURACEA] ZAM GH $12.00 "Cardboard Palm" Very handsome golden brown tomentum covers the surface of the oblong hard leaflets on this thick, fat-trunked cycad. Must have full sun light to maintain sculptural beauty--but once the new set of leaves have come out and hardened, the plant can easily be moved to a less well-lit area.

30446 ZAMIOCULCAS LANCEOLATA [ZAMIIFOLIA] ARAC HP TGH $ 8.00 "Aroid Palm" Very thick purpled petioles hold ranks of waxy succulent leaves on outarched thick succulent stems. This elegant "ZZ" plant is one of the few true desert aroids. Beware that the leaflets typically shatter when shipped--just tuck them into a rooting mix and each will form a plantlet. We got our plant from Grigbys years ago under the name of Z. lanceolata. We think at this point that it might be the same as Z. zamiifolia.

66275 ZYGOCACTUS HOLIDAY SPLENDOR CAC HP CGH $ 6.75Salmon toned "Christmas Cactus" blushed red --why not call the color "shrimp?" Sent as mossed URCutting.

66273 ZYGOCACTUS NAOMI [HYB] CAC HP CGH $ 6.25Lilac toned "Christmas Cactus" produces large lavender blossoms with violet and white designs. Sent as mossed URCutting.

66190 ZYGOCACTUS PLUM CARNIVAL CAC HP TGH $ 8.50 "Variegated Christmas Cactus" The smallish stem segments are pale lime hued, actually quite attractive with the many demure plum fuchsia blossoms appearing in December for us. Lord only knows what the true name for this may have been many years ago when it first appeared with this questionable designation and then quickly vanished from the trade--probably because it appeared chloric to Walmart customers; or, more likely, because the variegation disappears if grown in too warm a temperature or if overfertilized. Sent as a mossed URCutting.

66271 ZYGOCACTUS THOR ALICE CAC HP TGH $ 4.50 Impressive outthrust dragonshead blossoms of pale shell pink shade intensely dramatically scarlet tipped petals--very heavy flowering. Sent as mossed URCuttings.

66265 ZYGOCACTUS THOR RITT CAC HP TGH $ 5.75 Upright ornate habit with distinctly ruffled deep grape-violet blossoms of impressive size in December or January. This distinctive "Grape Christmas Cactus" is usually sent as an unrooted cutting in dry moss.

66274 ZYGOCACTUS WHITE FANTASY CAC HP TGH $ 6.50 "White Christmas Cactus" The notched segmented stems are more upright than most hybrids--tipped with large outthrust white midwinter blossoms. Sent as mossed URCuttings.
