65212 HAWORTHIA ATTENUATA CAESPITOSA LIL HP $ 4.00 The "Zebra Plant" is horticulturally known as H. fasciata (actually a separate slow H. coarctata type). White pearls of raised tubercles form bright cross-bands on dark stiff leaves in upright rosettes. The one grandma had.

65577 HAWORTHIA LANCIOLETTA VARIEGATA [HORT] LIL HP TGH $ 5.25Beautiful & curious slim H. cooperi type from the late Jim Peterson collection with bright white striped somewhat translucent leaves in tight rosettes--the liquid white variegations vary from one rosette to the next, but never entirely disappear, often re-appearing on pups from seemingly non-variegated rosettes. Distinctive even though the name is up for grabs. Please do not ask where and when this was "published" for we know not, although suspecting a lucky bastard hybrid origin many years ago. To avoid confusion we continue to use this designation as it has been so called for well over twenty years with none better brought forth.

65442 HAWTHORIA MIDORINOSONO [HYB] LIL HP CGH $ 4.75 Rare cultivar with a wide H. cuspidata habit distinguished by random blotches and streaks of white on the fleshy leaves often extending into the veined windows. Very flashy, very popular for its unique form of splendid variegation: and every flat juicy rosette is variegated. Very shallow roots--plant accordingly.

65378 HAWORTHIA PYGMAEA [HORT] LIL HP TGH $ 8.00 Small rosettes with rough crystaline windowed leavaes. We have been informed that this is sometimes offered as retusa acuminata in Europe--nomenclature uncertain. This is the most petite of any in our collection; typically sent as divisions in dry moss so it will travel safely to you. If you want a large plant, please do not order this as it will never be more than microcopic.

65413 HAWORTHIA UBOMBOENSIS LIL $ 6.50 New for Fall 2008. "False Tillandsia" Has the stoloniferous character and stiff open rosette of H. limifolia (under which it has been classified); however the pale green smooth leaves lack any ridging. Handsome unique species turning liliac in bright light. Stoloniferous habit makes this popular in mossed topiary and in mossed succulent wreaths as offsets pop out randomly after burrowing below.

The Wax Flowers (HOYAS) for the 2008 SEASON

99080 HOYA COLLECTION: A solid introductory selection of high performance "Wax Flowers"--including flashy H. carnosa cultivars seldom (if ever) offered in the catalogue listings. This bargain price reflects strong cuttings sent in moss (and they will root in your conditions best in moss) as well as a strong probability that some will be already potted. Certainly one of the most ordered plant collections we offer. 5 different @ $20.00 To see a book about hoyas, click this link.
If you want a specific species or cultivar, order it individually as the introductory collections must remain entirely our selection because they change weekly.

60114 HOYA ACUTA [PARASITICA] ASC HP TGH $ 5.00Beautifully veined pale waxed flat leaves in abundance; modest umbels of light yellow recurved flowers; great basket suject. Chris Burton's clone.

60816 HOYA BELLA PAXTONII ASC TGH HP $ 10.00 Crinkle-edged leaves on pendant stems with flat umbles of white flowers with cute pink coronas. Indian collection originally distruibuted as H. Paxtonii (Nichols).

55702 HOYA CARNOSA COMPACTA ASC HP TGH $ 5.00 Dependable "Hindu Rope Plant" with waxy tortollini torked leaves so closely set as to obscure the succulent stems; very beautiful clusters of fragrant deep pink blossoms. Currently considered more correctly called Hoya c. 'Regalis'

60079 HOYA CARNOSA COMPACTA MARGINATA ASC HP TGH $ 8.00 "Variegated Hindu Rope Waxflower" Orininally received from the legendary Ed Hummel: pink flower umbels dangle from the meandering stems completely invisible under the thick waxy wavy crinkly leaves, each with a bright cream border.

60806 HOYA CARNOSA DAPPLED GREY ASC HP TGH $ 15.00 Thick waxy lvs mottled silvery gray over glaucous green--an odd reptilian effect off-putting to some (perhaps more "interesting" than attractive?) and umbels of pale rimmed rosy toned blossoms. Popular for giving a reptilian pewter tone when wraped around a succulent wreath. Sometimes considered x pubicalyx cv.

61014 HOYA CARNOSA HOLLIANA VARIEGATA ASC HP TGH $ 5.00 "Beautiful pairs of thick succulent leaves--much reduced in size compared to most Carnosa cvs--each wavy waxy leaf margined creamy white; habit is prostrate, making this cultivar most ideal for succulent wreaths and moss topiaries.

66847 HOYA CARNOSA KRIMSON PRINCESS ASC HP TGH $ 6.25 Umbels of pink waxy blossoms against thick succulent foliage--each leaf with a golden lime center, especially colorful as new foliage emerges shrimp pink with adequate light levels and balanced fertilizer.

60080 HOYA CARNOSA KRIMSON QUEEN ASC HP TGH $ 6.25 Umbels of pink waxy blossoms against thick succulent foliage--each leaf with a white edges, especially colorful as new foliage emerges shrimp pink with adequate light levels and balanced fertilizer.

60077 HOYA CARNOSA KRINKLE 8 [HORT] ASC HP TGH $ 5.00 "Waffle Hoya" Puckered deep green waxy wide leaves; beautiful showy pink blossom clusters are freely produced. Name given for the (usually) eight distinct "dimples" on each thick jade substanced decorative leaf.

60067 HOYA CARNOSA KRINKLE 8 VARIEGATA ASC HP TGH $ 10.00 The broad dimpled leaves are margined creamy white. Showy. Burton points out that flowers are same as those of H. mostoskei. One of the easiest for indoor culture.

60070 HOYA CINNAMOMIFOLIA ASC HP TGH $ 12.00 Thick hard olive lvs with prominent veins and waxy sheen; creamy-yellow fls with necter. Java native. This clone with cream-white corona is probably H. pottsii; the true species has a blood-red corona.

60647 HOYA CUMINGIANA ASC HP TGH $ 4.75 Overlapping small glossy Carissa-like lvs; short internodes & branching give shrubby effect; odd yellow & maroon blossoms in crayola shades. Very interesting and unique shrubby species of easy culture--for extra vigor add some lime to the mix.

60972 HOYA CURTISII ASCL GH $ 12.50 Teardrop miniature leaves with silver markings. Very prostrate habit and thus perfect if grown on a moss plaque. We have seen this grown also as a very full hanging basket subject when it requires perfect drainage; far happier on moss as forms only surface roots. Flowers are small, but the tearleaf form with mottled silver breaking through on the succulent leaf is stunning--any lizare would be proud to have this patina on its scales..

68483 HOYA EXCAVATA ASC TGH $ 40.00 Giant thick succulent leaves with raised vericose veins quite prominent; rosy red flower clusters. Needs elbow room. Sent as mossed, unrooted cuts. Currently sold out as overordered last season well beyond our stock.

60656 HOYA FINLAYSONII ASC HP TGH $ 30.00 Long leathery leaves with some silver brushing and dark veining; Flower heads of crayon yellow and red blossoms in an oddly disturbing combination. Mossed URC

60662 HOYA FRATERNA [MELIFLUA SUBSPECIES] ASC HP TGH $ 20.00 Thick moulded wax lvs of jade green with recurved edges. Very large stature. Fuzzy sienna-orange petals with dusky orange corolla. Said to come from Australia. (H. fraterna now synonym for coriaceas)

60771 HOYA FUNGII ASC HP TGH $ 15.00Fleshy rich green ovate leaves with branching dark veins. Broad leaves. Fragrant carnosa like blossoms. One of the most attractive with an unusual dusky toned shade of green foliage which is far more tolerant of chill than any in the carnosa tribe.

60873 HOYA GONOLOBIOIDES [HORT] ASC HP TGH $ 10.00 Heavy waxy unveined foliage; straw-ivory blossoms in attractive scented clusters. Easy strong growing species. Who knows what current nomenclature applies to this old reliable vine we originally received from Loyce.

60695 HOYA KENTIANA [HORT] ASC HP TGH $ 5.75 Slim succulent leaves with soft pewter green rubbery surface outlined with a dramatic cocco purple margin--forms a thick mound of cascading foliage from which dangle elegant flat umbels of red and soft rose toned elaborate blossoms. A very beautiful undemanding houseplant, especially suited for a small hanging basket so as to perfectly display the blossom clusters. Similar to plants sent to us as H. wayetii as well as Unidentified #70 by our former Athens neighbor, David Silverman when he was in the OU Art Department; Kloppenberg suggest that this is the current designation of the plant originally distributed as Elmer's angustifolia..

60090 HOYA KERRII ASC HP TGH $ 14.25 "Sweetheart Hoya" or "Wax Hearts" Very thick large rigid leaves resembling inverted hearts; greenish-ivory flowers with tan-rose tones (tends to drip nectar). Found from Thailand to Fiji.

68462 HOYA KERRII MEDIO PICTA AES HP TGH $ 45.00 Unusual "Flame Heart Sweetheart Hoya" with each thickly succulent heart shaped leaf variegated with central ochre. Typiclaly sent as a mossed unrooted cutting.

56548 HOYA KERRII VARIEGATED SWEETHEARTASC HP TGH $ 30.00A fabulous clone on which the thick succulent heart shaped leaves are margined a wide ivory-yellow. A strong growing clone from Thailand--not the difficult clone offered in the past.

60093 HOYA KEYSII [AUSTRALIS S. AUSTRALIS] ASC HP CGH $ 8.75 "Queensland Wax Vine" Thick gray-green leaves richly felted; waxy white flowers with palest rose corona. Handsome.

60094 HOYA LACUNOSA ASC HP TGH $ 8.75 Tassel-like pendant umbels of fuzzy lemon-greenish white flowers with lemon centers and soft fragrance (a very clean aroma) perfectly match the dwarf-statured quilted leaves; the name derives form the lacunose leaf surface. That is, the surface of the leaf is cupped or depressed between the veins. Malaysian native beautifully displayed in small baskets to present the dangling scented flower clusters easily or trained on a moss topiary. Certainly the least challenging small statured cascading species to easily bloom as a houseplant.

60097 HOYA LINEARIS ASC CGH HP TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK. DO NOT ORDER AT THIS TIME. Narrow terete pendant leaf pairs are hairy; pendant umbels of delicate white flowers. Unique habit--but difficult--grow in a very shallow pot of epiphytic mix and never allow any exposure to chill--if you place this near a misting system, it will thrive. Always sent as a mossed URCutting.

58719 HOYA LOHEREI ASC HP TGH $ 8.50 Odd small Dischidia like species with leathery slim leaves held upright like a patch of bunny ears at attention (or like tiny canoes on end), often tinged a bronzy maroon; red bronze (actually close to coppery orange) jewel like blossoms splay out in a starburst pattern. We need to thank Dale Kloppenburg for sharing this quite unique species--just being discovered by the succulent wreath designers.

60760 HOYA MACGILLVRAYI ASC TGH $ 25.00 Seedling selection with tailed giant leaves and black-burgundy blossoms with white reverse shaped like a bowl. Very sensitive to chill.

60753 HOYA MEREDITHII [VITELLINOIDES] ASC CGH HP $ 20.00. "Cardboard Wax Plant" Large undulating thick plastic leaves, with cardboard texture with undulating edges, gray splashed lime green w/ emerald vein netting; open clusters of lime-yellow flowers with ivory coronas. Originally distributed as 'Borneo 80-05'

60770 HOYA MERRILLII ASC CGH HP $ 18.00. Thick wide cordovan brown glossy leaves, thick jade like with and showy paleer veins dramaticlly raised, all tightly held on pale rope like vining stems; open clusters of numerous fragrant rather distinctive white waxy blossoms with quite visibly curled petals lemony at center. Can be slow to establish; but a Mindoro species with very tropical (and possibly calcareous) needs.

58717 HOYA MITRATA ASC CGH HP $ 15.00. An easily grown related to Hoya darwinii, but easier to cultivate. Flower bloom upright. Spotted thick leaves are very distinctive.

60104 HOYA [CENTROSTEMMA] MULTIFLORA ASC HP TGH $ 10.00 Lvs pubescent green on upright arching stems tipped with explosions of straw-ivory blossoms tipped tan, with non-curving corollas. In the general horticultural trade this shrubby vine is known as Hoya "Shooting Stars"--be careful avoid chill or it will immediately defoliate (and unfortunately be shooting leaves as well), even though it quickly recovers and produces new foliage. We usually send this already established in pots as this handsome species is semi-terrestial; but if walk in customers have found them all already at the time of your order, we will send generous URCuts.

68504 HOYA [CENTROSTEMMA] MULTIFLORA MARGINATA ASC TGH HP $ 55.00 Fantastic "Variegated Shooting Stars" A marvelous selection of this shruby Malaysian with each thin rubbery leaf margined rich creamy white; fantastic with the exploding umbels of pointed straw cream waxy flowers tipped rose umber. 60110 HOYA NEW GUINEA 355-309 ASC HP TGH $ 12.00 Curious somewhat pelted leaves on a slow growing vine. Yellowish flowers. Heirloom. Nomenclature rather muddled, but the plant is always dependable, always popular.

61016 HOYA PAZIAE ASC HP TGH $ 8.00 Shruby vine habit; out arching wiry stems with small waxy paired leaves and delightfully fragrant white and lavender flowers in cute umbels. An unusually undemanding easy species preferring broken light and evenly moist well drained soil (likes a sweet, not acid soil) to form a lovely (relatively compact) houseplant. May be sent as a mossed URC

60752 HOYA PENTAPHLEBIA [CITRINA] ASC HP TGH $ 35.00 Impressive large broad quilted somewhat glossy leaves with palmate venation; buttery yellow waxy blossoms with white centers in many-flowered umbels. Rangy big-boned Philippines viner with bronzy pink tones developing in high light. Mossed URCuttings will be sent so you can set this rambling vine free in your greenhouse.

60953 HOYA PINK SILVER [HORT.] ASC TGH HP $ 5.50 Heavy waxy leaves strewn with silvery pink brushings on vigorous compact vine; clusters of fragrant blossoms not quite as easily produced as those of the H. carnosa tribe. Tolerant of less than ideal conditions; perfect lush decorative focal point on any windowsill; perhaps still the most satisyfing and visually stunning hanging basket subject of any of the "Wax Vines."

60115 HOYA POLYNEURA ASC HP TGH $ 10.00 "Fishtail Hoya" Pairs of thin fishtail-shaped leaves with dark prominent veins on arching stiff stems which soon dramatically cascade downward under the weight of the leaves and the odd umbles of creamy-tan flowers with reddish purple coronas in the center. Himalayan native, thus needs cooler, less sunny conditions than its more tropical cousins. Mossed URC

60117 HOYA PUBERA [NUMMULARIOIDES] ASC HP TGH $ 15.00 A small statured, modest plant that goes under several names. Some people dislike the fragrance that comes from the ivory blooms with pinkish centers--others detect a hint of cloves. Down tured soft tomentose leaves on short looping vining stems happiest on bark or moss. Originally offered by Glasshouse Works as 'Species Geri,' this small statured Thai is available once more.

56999 HOYA RIGIDA ASC HP TGH $ 15.00 "Burma Jade Plant" Uparched thick stems support extremely thick boat shaped leaves held at rigid angles; umbels of apple lime green and pink blossoms. Distinctive habit--avoid overwatering during the winter. Prefers sweet soil.

60098 HOYA SHEPHERDI [LONGIFOLIA SHEPHERDI] ASC HP $ 7.50 "Stringbean Hoya" Dark scooped beanpod lvs in pairs; interesting clusters of quite waxy ivory blossoms with rose-red crown. Sikkim native a natural cascading from a hanging basket. According to Kloppenburg's photos, our clone is most correct as longifolia.

58718 HOYA RIGIDA ASC HP TGH $ 15.00 A distinctive South China species with pairs of round, quite convex leaves (a Dischidia mimic) a leathery basil tone; Waxy beige and maroon blossoms often numbering up to 20 per inch in a single umble. Happiest grown on a moss surface.

60773 HOYA TSANGI [SP. DS-70; ANGUSTIFOLIA] ASC TGH HP $ 7.00 Lovely rich green pelted leaves with darkly blushed margins; flat-planed umbels of small ball-shaped rich red fls appear almost year round if kept warm with adaquate humidity--the modest size, beautifully pelted foliage and easily trained stems continue to make this one of the most popular "Wax Plants" for a small area--especially for small mossed topiaries and terrariums, even for litegardeners. The modest umbels emit a slight honey fragrance. Philippines species best grown in an epiphytic mix.

68463 HOYA VERTICILATA [BOGOR] MARGINATA ASC HP TGH $ 15.00 "Variegated Bogor Rope Vine" Wide ivory margins perfectly complement the pale glacous underleaf tones. Frangrant blooms of pastel crayola pink. Mossed URCuttings usually sent of this unusually attractive selection.

60142 HUERNIA MACROCARPA PENZGGII ASC HP TGH $ 4.75 Ethiopian with 4-5 angled stems and basal greenish-yellow flowers with brownish stripes. From the Peterson collection.

60164 HUERNIA SCHNEIDERIANA ASC TGH HP $ 3.50 Chocolate violet flowers with cinnamon mahogany tones outside the bells produced in clusters as the base of the glossy upright (then tumbling) succulent short columnar stems ribbed with rows of soft "teeth." Easily grown cousin of the Stapelias, flourishing under the same growing conditions--and importantly, the most easily bloomed of any of the many species we have trialed over the years. An important plant to have for those kids among you with at least one prudish great-aunt who can be gently encouraged to read the plant tag aloud.

60138 HUERNIA ZEBRINA ASC HP TGH $ 6.25 Large cream flowers with bright chocolate-magenta annulus ring semi-gloss waxed. Also called H. blackbeardae. The upright succulent stems are sent as URCuts in dry moss. Will not toleratae chill.

40372 HYDNOPHYTUM FORMICARIUM RUB HP TGH $ 25.00 Unique epiphytic caudiform with very swollen tuberous base with access tunnels; very short trunks bear waxy flowers followed by shiny red fruits; excellent houseplant--flourishing in lite gardens--for a consistently warm location with high humidity and epiphytic treatment. This can only be shipped during quite warm months; very sensitive to cool conditions.

40373 HYDNOPHYTUM THAILAND RUB TGH TERR $ 35.00 "Bumpy Ant Tuber" Dark and ridged form of Ant Tuber with low spreading tuber, the succulent base soon developing odd tunnels for its intended symboitic ants (not a necessary ingredient in your light garden!); topped with short blooming branches.Red berries. This form is slower growing than the regular Hydnophytum formicarium. Only six or seven plants available. Please inquire.

42063 HYDNOPHYTUM TUBEROSUM RUB TGH TERR $ 25.00 "Ant Tuber"Dark nearly glossy swollen globe forms over the mossy surface, the succulent base soon developing odd tunnels for its intended symboitic ants (not a necessary ingredient in your light garden!); topped with short blooming branches.

62643HYLOCERUS GUATAMALENSIS CAC TGH $ 7.75 Famous edible Guatamalan "Dragon Fruit" follows the most remarkable nocturnal intensely fragrant foot long white blossoms which emerge from the most impressively statured three winged glaucous clambering stems of this semi-epiphytic big-boned Cactus. Typically sent in dry moss--although potted ones are often mailed as well. Be warned that this is a very very big boned vine.

67399 JATROPHA HASTATA [INTEGERRIMA] COMPACTA EUP HP TGH $ 10.00 Fiddle-shaped (typically three lobed) richly toned foliage on upright stout stemmed shrublet with a constant show of deep rose red blossoms in erect clusters as long as good sunlight is available--the uncooked seeds are considered toxic to some. This spicy Cuban "Peregina" performs well as a container plant; recently discovered by the "Tropicals in the Northern Garden" designers so this extremely attractive and undemanding treasure is now popping up in windowboxes, urns, and patio containers. Sometimes offered in Europe as J. pandurifolia, or so we are told.

67407 JATROPHA PODAGRICA EUP HP TGH $ 7.50 "Gout Plant" or "Bottle Plant" names suggest its popular appeal; but the fun name is "Tartoto" in Guatamala. Stout swollen stubby trunk (a Baobab mimic) topped with oval, peltate, lobed leaves held out like radar dishes; clusters of coral flowers. Easy, but remember that this "Guatemalan Rhubarb" needs a bit of a mid-winter rest to more easily initiate the next season's flower buds.
