BOWIEA VOLUBILIS

We include this poisonous plant in our gallery as one of the botanical curiosities that we offer from time to time. It has a modified leaf that looks like a vine. The sap is somewhat poinsonous (so don't eat it), but it more than makes up for this with its curious growth habit. The leaf will "vine" and attach to object around it as it grows and elongates. The plant tends to be summer dormant because it comes from south Africa, thus this is the time of the dry period of the year.
