Our First commissioned items from China are now here! We have just received a group of twelve Chinese Auspicious Animals! They are sculpted in either marble and granite. We picture three of them just below. We call them "Lucky Beasts." indeed it it difficult to translate directly from the Chinese, but these beasts are a great piece of sculpture for the garden. We are keeping one inside by the fireplace. They traditionally are put in the garden because they are said to give good fortune to the owner and to protect from evil spirits. They are considered great watchers of the home and garden. We have seen these in various forms and different media over the years. The image we had these designed from was from a large incense burner in copper which we saw at the famous "Sun of Heaven" Chinese exhibit 10 years ago. We chose them to be in lasting stone for our gardening friends. Keep this in mind for the fall and winter holiday season. The one foot high size is perfect for the home too.
